Musing Mondays are hosted by Miz B.
Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:
I’m currently reading…
Up next I think I’ll read…
I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
I can’t wait to get a copy of…
I wish I could read ___, but…
I blogged about ____ this past week…
I’m currently reading ‘The Art of Baking Blind’ by Sarah Vaughan.
This was one of the rare books I picked up without even looking at the blurb. I saw the name, saw the cover in Netgalley, and fell in love with it. I just had to request it. And I did get approved for it, so it was great!
It is about five women who are taking part in a British Baking competition. For someone who loves watching The Great British Bake Off (one of the few things I watch on the telly), this is such an interesting read. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it so far. A review will be coming up, I’d say ‘soon’, but going by my review timelines ‘soonish’, is probably more accurate ;
Anyone else tried it yet? Do drop me a note of how you found it.
Edited to include this week’s random question
THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: How often do you use your local library? Are you happy with their availability?
I used to use my local library a lot. Until I started reading on the Kindle. I still love going there, but I don’t seem to use it as much as I used to.. which feels very sad, now that I think about it.
the cover surely looks good, waiting for your review 🙂

I’m with you about the local library–since I got my Nook, I don’t go nearly as often.

Oh, I have such nostalgic feelings about libraries, beginning with the first one I visited in childhood…and loved. Whenever I moved to a new town, and that was often in my young adulthood, the library was the first place I checked out.
Things have changed, but I do occasionally request books online and go to pick them up…and I donate to the library.

It was the same for me. Until probably a year ago. I used to run to the library during my lunch breaks. The first place I would ever check out in a new town would be the library.. it does make me sad that I hardly go into the library these days.

I love the cover and also enjoy The Great British Bake Off too. I’m like you with library visits, they used to be part of my weekly routine but a change in lifestyle combined with a kindle (too easy to buy books) and more disposable income means I visit rarely now. Libraries have been such a big part of my life it seems sad that I now visit only occasionally.

It does feel sad, doesn’t it, that libraries which was such a huge part of our lives.. and now a place where we rarely go. It makes me feel a little bereft. I think I will be going to my local library soon.

We have two huge libraries in my area that I frequent a lot. My university regularly updates their fiction/non-fiction section which is right at the entrance and i always browse through when I’m there. I haven’t given in to the e-reader yet, and I don’t think I ever will. There is some joy in finding an exciting book while you are just browsing!

I stayed away from the Kindle for a long time, but succumbed. It is so very convenient, in so many ways, but … But I so miss libraries and proper books….
